Description

Ghost Trains – Forgotten Railways was produced and photographed by Anthony Buckley.

This documentary journey romances the era of steam … a journey of a different kind …travelling back in time, in the present and looking to the future of railway tourism. It is also a salute to three engineering visionaries, John Whitton, Henry Deane and J.J. Bradfield.

Collectively, the journeys take us from Far North Queensland to Tasmania, however the main focus is on Henry Deane’s masterpiece, The Wolgan Valley Railway. If this line were to be reopened today for tourism it would rank amongst the most amazing railway engineering marvels of the world. As it is this recreated film sequence is the next best thing. Your guide is Michael Keats, bushwalker, historian and author.
