The ghost town of Newnes provides one of the most accessible entry points into the spectacular and wild Wollemi National Park, part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. What sets this region apart is the amazing and unique geology, history, flora and remote pristine places. And yet it is located within a couple of hours drive out of Sydney.

This book, first in a series of three, is about a spectrum of walking opportunities around Newnes that can be accomplished in a day trip from Sydney or other parts of the Blue Mountains.

The walks are grouped in two sections according to the main feature of the walk: Captivating History Walks and Breathtaking Lookouts. For history buffs, it also contains a Concise History of the Wolgan Valley.

The walks described in the book range from the very easy to the extreme. The great thing about a visit to Newnes is that you can be as energetic or as laid back as you wish.
