The bottom section was discovered by a Sydney University - Ramblers trip in September 1977. When walking up this creek, they encountered a Tiger Snake. The day after when finalising a map of the area the name was coined by David Noble and Keith Maxwell. Ref: Map and correspondence Keith Maxwell 13th February 2016.
