Refers to the southwestern end of Donkey Mountain a isolated large mountain between the Wolgan Road and the Wolgan River, having a height of 300m above the surrounding country. It has as its northern end Donkey Mountain. Mount Wolgan is shown on the map Parish of Wolgan, 1884. Local usage did not refer to this name but rather to all of Donkey Mountain and Mount Wolgan as Big Donkey, and the smaller hill west of Mount Wolgan as Little Donkey. Ref: Dick Bird and Ron Bourke interview, 29th January 2010, both were born in the Wolgan Valley, 1920s.
